Let the mystery begin

I grew up reading mysteries. From the time I was a tot, my mother read Perry Mason to me in front of the stove on cold winter mornings. I graduated to Nancy Drew and Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazines then became more snobbish preferring the classics, Edgar Allen Poe or Wilkie Collins.

This month I am starting my Year of Mysteries – only reading mystery books – as many as possible. This year is intended to heal a broken heart and give me something to do besides spend money and watch television. My plan is to only read what I already have or can get from the library and keep TV to a minimum – like one hour a day or less.

It is my hope to find like-minded readers who like the genre as much as I do and may want to read along. I follow a number of book bloggers and I must stay they are really a source of inspiration. My Year of Mysteries will officially begin on Halloween, but since I’ve already started the reading I think I will just commence the blogging!
